Lineage

The circuits that made electric guitar did not appear in isolation — they descend from one another. This is the corpus as a family tree: every model placed on an era axis within its line, a succession line tracing each family's revisions, and a derivation arrow drawn wherever one circuit's redrawn schematic is a documented derivation of another in a different family. 97 models across 16 lines, 39 with a documented circuit. Two connectors, two claims. A succession line joins the models inside one family in date order — it records the chain of revisions that carried the line's name, not that each step is a documented derivation of the last. An arrow is drawn only where an amp's own metadata records a derivation across family lines. The chart draws two arrows: the 5F6-A in the Bassman line to the JTM45 in the Marshall lead-amp line, and the 6G3 in the Deluxe line to the AB763 in the Deluxe Reverb line. Each arrow's caption reads the change straight from the two circuits' data — the power tubes and rectifier where those differ, the output rating where they do not. Within-family documented derivations (the 5E1 Champ to the 5F1, the JTM45 to the model 1987) are carried by the succession line rather than double-drawn as arrows. Each chip sits at its model's introduction year and its bar runs to the end of production; the era axis compresses to the right of the 1970 gridline — the tick steps widen from five years to ten there — so the few late chapters that reach the 1990s do not squeeze the crowded 1946–1968 core where the corpus lives. Outline chips are history-tier models — placed and sourced, their circuits not yet drawn — so each family reads as a complete chain even where only one or two circuits are documented; the gaps are honest, and an outline chip becomes solid when its circuit lands. A chip with no second line is a model whose family file states no wattage.
